Critical Chapter: Marissa’s Time at Misty Mountain Gaming
Share
From June 2023 through October 2024, Marissa Thompson became a versatile member of the Misty Mountain Gaming team. Although she joined the company as a Marketing Assistant, her work quickly expanded across executive support as Executive Assistant, multibrand marketing, social media, graphic design, product development, wholesale operations, website management, community engagement, partnerships, and live event production.
Marissa supported Multi-Brand Marketing Director Sophii Jones, company President Jonathan Turner, and Manager of Operations Robert Franklin while helping keep communication, schedules, projects, and day-to-day priorities moving forward. She regularly shifted between executive-level coordination and hands-on creative work, becoming a dependable resource wherever additional organization or support was needed.
Within the marketing department, Marissa worked closely with Sophii across the social media channels for Misty Mountain Gaming, Modern Rugged, and RollWithMMG, the company’s wholesale initiative launched in 2023. Her responsibilities included social media management, community engagement, graphic design, website updates, marketing campaigns, and broader brand initiatives. She helped maintain a distinct voice and visual identity for each channel while keeping communication consistent with its specific audience and purpose.
Marissa also supported the company’s wholesale program and partnerships through RollWithMMG. She helped organize information, coordinate marketing materials, support partner communication, and prepare the creative and operational resources needed to present Misty Mountain Gaming’s growing product lines to retailers, wholesale buyers, and collaborative partners.
One of Marissa’s most substantial design projects was the creation of a wholesale catalog for Misty Mountain Gaming. The project required collaboration with senior designers and the company’s photography team, including coordinating with AJ on product photography, dice selection, image organization, and the overall presentation of the collection. Marissa brought those pieces together into a cohesive catalog designed for retailers, wholesale buyers, and prospective partners.
Her work also extended into product development. As a member of the product design team, Marissa contributed ideas, artwork, organization, and feedback to the development of new products across the company’s brands. Her ability to understand both the creative direction and the practical requirements behind a project allowed her to support products from early conversations through presentation, promotion, and wholesale readiness.
Beyond the marketing department, Marissa played an essential role in the company’s event operations. She coordinated flights, hotels, Airbnbs, and other travel arrangements for an events team of approximately 50 people and growing. She also traveled as a member of the team to Comic-Cons, trade shows, and pop-culture events throughout the United States and Canada, assisting with event setup, customer service, sales, merchandising, and onsite operations.
Marissa’s time at Misty Mountain Gaming demonstrated her ability to work comfortably across departments, brands, and responsibilities while taking ownership of whatever a growing company needed next. Whether she was supporting executives, coordinating travel for a large team, managing social media across brands, designing wholesale materials, assisting with partnerships, developing products, updating a website, or working directly with customers at an event, she approached each responsibility with organization, adaptability, creativity, and care.
That experience strengthened Marissa’s combination of financial awareness, operational thinking, creative problem-solving, and collaborative leadership, which she now brings to Jupiter House as its Co-Founder and CFO.
