Friendship Lamps Social Pop-Up: An End-to-End Influencer Brand Activation

Role: Brand Activation Strategist, Creative Director, and Influencer Marketing Manager
Companies: Friendship Lamps × Evie + Alec
Deliverables: Activation strategy, influencer outreach, event creative, PR experience, Shopify Collabs program, Creator Toolkit, and post-event campaign management
Campaign: Friendship Lamps Social Pop-Up
Market: Wichita Metro Area
Event Location: Evie + Alec Boutique, Overland Park, Kansas

I conceived, pitched, developed, and managed the Friendship Lamps Social Pop-Up—an experiential influencer activation created to introduce more people to Friendship Lamps, generate authentic creator content, and build meaningful relationships throughout the Wichita-area creative community.

Friendship Lamps are made in Wichita and designed to help friends and family stay connected across any distance through paired, touch-activated lights. The challenge was translating that emotional, interactive product experience into an event that creators could see, touch, demonstrate, and share through their own perspectives.

The activation was hosted inside the Evie + Alec boutique in Andover, Kansas. Its beautiful, welcoming environment gave invited creators a content-ready setting where they could experience Friendship Lamps and Friendship Frames, meet local businesses, connect with other creators, and explore future partnership opportunities.

From Idea to Approved Activation

I developed the initial concept and pitched it to Friendship Lamps as a community-centered alternative to a traditional influencer gifting campaign. Instead of simply mailing products, I wanted to create an experience where creators could interact with the lamps, understand the story behind them, and form genuine relationships with the brand and one another.

Once the concept was approved, I developed the activation strategy, project timeline, creator incentives, visual direction, promotional plan, and guest experience.

I researched potential venues, visited and evaluated the Evie + Alec boutique, and confirmed the space for the event. I worked with the venue and participating partners to transform the boutique into an inviting environment for product demonstrations, conversations, networking, photography, and video creation.

Jason Bell arranged the catering and set up the alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage service. Local Italian restaurant FioRito catered the event with hors d’oeuvres.

Influencer Research and Outreach

I researched and curated a targeted guest list of local influencers and content creators whose audiences, personalities, and content styles aligned with Friendship Lamps.

My creator-management process included:

  • Developing the invitation strategy
  • Writing and distributing personalized invitations
  • Managing responses and RSVPs
  • Following up with confirmed guests
  • Collecting each creator’s preferred Friendship Lamp style
  • Coordinating creator gifts and event details
  • Providing pre-event information and support
  • Building relationships before, during, and after the activation

Each participating creator received a selected set of Friendship Lamps to experience at home, feature in their content, and use with a friend or family member.

Shopify Collabs and Affiliate Incentives

Before the event, I built a dedicated Friendship Lamps Social Pop-Up program through Shopify Collabs and onboarded each confirmed creator.

Every creator received an individual affiliate code that provided:

  • 10% off for their audience
  • 10% commission for the creator
  • Independent access to code-performance data
  • Visibility into purchases attributed to their content
  • Control over their commission payouts

I also helped creators who were unfamiliar with Shopify Collabs understand how to access the platform, monitor their codes, view their results, and manage payouts.

This structure gave creators an opportunity to build a longer-term relationship with Friendship Lamps rather than participating in a single unpaid product exchange.

Event Branding and Creative Direction

I developed the activation’s visual identity and created the marketing materials needed to support the event.

My creative deliverables included:

  • Personalized invitations
  • Event graphics
  • Printed postcards
  • QR-code materials
  • Creator resources
  • Partner promotions
  • Thank-you materials
  • Creator-recruitment graphics
  • PR-bag presentation
  • Digital campaign assets
  • Event collateral

The colorful PR bags were intentionally selected and assembled to complement the personality of Friendship Lamps. Each package included the creator’s chosen lamps, partner gifts, exclusive offers, marketing materials, and opportunities to connect with participating businesses.

Evie + Alec provided attendees with an exclusive 25% offer for its upcoming boutique location. Specs and Eyewear Junkie contributed additional creator gifts and future collaboration opportunities.

The Creator Toolkit

To make post-event content creation as easy and organized as possible, I designed and developed a dedicated Friendship Lamps Creator Toolkit.

The online resource gave creators one convenient place to access:

  • Product and shopping links
  • Brand logos and downloadable assets
  • Content guidelines
  • Suggested hashtags and account tags
  • Campaign information
  • Previous creator-content examples
  • Supporting PDFs and folders
  • Affiliate resources
  • Collaboration information

Each attendee also received a personalized thank-you postcard with a QR code linking directly to the toolkit.

The resource extended the activation beyond the physical event and gave creators everything they needed to publish accurate, on-brand content without repeatedly requesting files or instructions.

Building a Larger Creator Ecosystem

The Friendship Lamps Social Pop-Up was also designed to create opportunities beyond a single brand partnership.

For Specs and Eyewear Junkie, I developed Google Forms, QR-code funnels, and creator-interest workflows that allowed attendees to express interest in future campaigns and join each company’s creator network.

I designed promotional postcards featuring creators who had previously worked with those businesses. This allowed attending creators to see members of their own community represented in the marketing while learning about additional paid, gifted, and collaborative opportunities.

The event became more than a business-to-creator activation. It encouraged:

  • Business-to-creator relationships
  • Business-to-business partnerships
  • Creator-to-creator networking
  • Affiliate opportunities
  • Future campaign participation
  • Community visibility and referrals

Several attendees continued connecting and collaborating after meeting through the event, demonstrating that the activation produced value beyond one evening of promotion.

The Content KPI

One of the campaign’s primary KPIs was post-event creator participation.

As attendees began publishing their content, they tagged Friendship Lamps or added the brand as a collaborator on their posts. This introduced the company to new audiences while helping solve an immediate marketing challenge: the need for a consistent backlog of authentic social content.

The KPI was highly successful. The event generated creator-led photography, videos, product demonstrations, personal stories, and social posts that Friendship Lamps could engage with, share, and use to keep its channels active.

Because the content came from multiple creators, it also presented the products through different voices, relationships, audiences, and creative styles.

Post-Event Relationship Building

My work continued after the event through creator communication, content support, collaboration management, and relationship follow-up.

I also wrote personalized testimonials for the creators and businesses involved. This is a standard Jupiter House practice whenever I have a positive experience with a collaborator. The testimonials allowed me to thank participants, recognize the quality of their work, contribute something useful to their professional reputations, and strengthen the foundation for future partnerships.
